This is a parts car or a major project if you want a drivable car I purchased 10 years or so ago. On reflection I don’t think I will never get around to completing it and would like to see it go to someone who can use the parts. It has been in dry storage since I got it but it sat outside for years before I acquired it. On the plus side I do have a good Wisconsin title for the car but have never registered it.
The chassis and suspension has been rebuilt and assembled. It’s fitted with an older set on Knoi coil overs and springs off a TwinCam. The front rear upper A arms were replaced so that the later larger springs could be used. There are adjustable lower links at the rear (there is a complete second rear suspension with the exception of the hubs that goes with the car). The frame itself is in good shape and at some time in the past was painted with Pore15 which is why it survived. It currently sits on a set of Triumph Spitfire wheels with junk tires that I use to move it around but I do have five lotus 4.5 J trims and hub caps (fair) that go with them. The brake lines are installed but I was planning to install over hung pedals and a hydraulic crutch.
There is an 807 engine and 336 transaxle installed in the chassis. The 807 was the power plant for a Mercury Marine inboard which I would rate in fair condition (it rotates by hand but I have not tried to start it). I did open it up to see what the insides looked like and they appeared ok but I would rebuild it if I was going to finish the project. The engine has the appropriate long cam and housing for the Europa installed. The crutch is installed but requires an adapted on the throw-out bearing to work properly (I do have the original crutch assembly which, if used, would eliminate the problem).
The body is in fair condition but it appears to have been repaired at some point by by the previous owners. I repaired damage to the right sail area when I got it and replaced the rear bulkhead with fiberglass. The body is off the car as are the doors and hoods. Everything has been removed from the body, doors and hoods. The windshield and other glass are in good shape. The bumpers are passable. The trail lights are the European version but need to be rebuilt and the chrome is pitted. The gauges are in poor condition and probably can’t be rebuilt. Other electronics are pretty much gone. There is no wiring harness.
What are the big pieces that are missing?
• The seats (I did keep one of the covers for a pattern)
• The fuel tank
• The dashboard
• The dash top
• The pedals
• The master cylinder
• The door hinges
• The radiator (the heater core is there)
Note you will most likely need an enclosed trailer or box truck to haul the car and associated parts and boxes as it is in pieces with the exception of the chassis.
I’d like around $3000 for the lot as at the present time, but I'm open to reasonable offers. I don’t have the time or inclination to sell individual parts at the present time. If you’re interested you can email at jpabram@ameritech.net and we can set up a time to talk.
