Plumbing: looking for inspiration
« on: Tuesday,September 17, 2019, 03:13:18 AM »
Hi all,
The time has come to replace my water pump (luckily on an S2 Renault engine).
I think this is the right time to review the plumbing on the engine, as right now it's a cobbled together mess of hoses, hose joints and jubilee clamps.
Does anyone care to share some pictures of their plumbing?

This is what my S2 looks like. Whether it's 100% original I don't know but at least the plumbing is cleanly done.

Not stock.  Missing heater valve, heater hoses are cobbled together with pipe bends and clamps, right side main pipe is cobbled as well.

I don't mind if it's not stock. There's not a lot 'stock' left on my car  :pirate:

The hose from the water pump bleed to swirl pot is bypassing hot coolant from going through the radiator.

Yes it does. We only made a very small hole, a lot smaller than the hose for bleeding. This helped a lot and the car doesn’t overheat even in last years summer with nearly 40°c(very hot for Germany). The car actually runs a bit on the cold side when it’s just 20°c.

I replaced some of my rubber pipes with silver copper pipes.

That's very neat! Are those pipes of something else, or you bent them yourself, using straight stock? Do they have a bead at the end to keep the hose in place?

You should put a bead.  Sometimes you can’t and a few pop-rivets do the trick just as well.
