For Sale: 1974 Yellow Lotus Europa TCS 5 spd (Survivor)
« on: Tuesday,May 20, 2025, 08:20:50 AM »
I’ve decided to sell my Europa :(
I’m inheriting another car and don’t have enough room.  I’d like to offer it here first before I try other avenues.  I’ll link some videos that should help show its condition.  I’ll gladly take more photos and video for serious buyers.  Please ask any questions, I’m sure I’m missing some information.

For Sale: 1974 Lotus Europa Twin-Cam Special – 5-Speed, Original Survivor

$28,500 OBO
Located in St. Louis, MO
PM me here or Email: jimbellm@hotmail.com

Here’s your chance to own a survivor Europa Twin-Cam Special—original paint and interior, factory 5-speed, and 43,261 original miles.  It’s original, unmolested, and sorted.

This car sat indoors for 40 years before I brought it back to life. Since reviving it, I’ve put about 1,500 miles on it—including on a fresh engine rebuild—and it’s solid, sorted, and a blast to drive.

The Work That’s Been Done:

   •   Full engine rebuild (~1,500 miles ago), block cleaned and honed, crank polished, new rings, bearings, gaskets and seals, head serviced, valves shimmed, carbs rebuilt and synchronized, new dist cap, rotor, and wires, new battery. New Vintage aftermarket muffler with chrome tip.
   •   New clutch disk
   •   New brake rotors, pads, hoses, drum cylinders, and brake light pressure switch.
   •   Vacuum brake boosters and hard lines removed (everything is included if you want to reinstall)
   •   New Kumho tires
   •   Cooling system refreshed: new water pump and hoses
   •   Fuel system gone through with new mechanical fuel pump, new hoses, and filters
   •   Original front suspension is still tight—no play, vintage Spax shocks, and front coils cut to lower the front end.  New bearings in rear hubs.

What’s Great:

   •   Lotus Yellow paint – original, never resprayed; looks great with natural patina
   •   Factory 5-speed shifts beautifully
   •   Original interior – seats, gauges, switches all there and working. Dash has some veneer cracking but I left it alone to preserve its originality
   •   Solid backbone chassis—no rust or structural issues
   •   Glass (new windshield with original trim) and brightwork in nice shape
   •   Starts easy, pulls hard, and handles like a proper Lotus

Comes With:
   •   Factory brake boosters & lines
   •   Original emissions components
   •   Factory jack and tool roll
   •   Lotus workshop manual

Why Sell?

Inheriting another car and not enough space. This one’s sorted and ready to enjoy—I’d love to see it go to someone who’ll appreciate it’s originality.

Really pretty car, especially for being so original!

I hope you get a good price but I'm sorry to see you go!

Thanks BDA!  I won’t leave.  I really like this forum (and will offer help when I can).  Yeah, I’m not good at getting rid of cars, so this is difficult for me.

Good luck with the sale. I found a 73 Big Valve in a bard after 47 years and have kept it as original as possible and will cherish it for a long time hopefully. Sorry to see yours go but we all have to divest at some  point

Thanks Bud.  As you know, it's fulfilling to put a Europa back on the road.  As fun and attention getting as this car is, divesting is where I'm at :(

Hi Bryan, I always read your posts ( best way to learn is listening to someone with a lot of experience with these cars).  I think we have similar survivor type Europas  :beerchug:
I wish us both luck.  It’s never fun selling cars that you actually want to keep but can’t
