TS Head valve specifications?
« on: Wednesday,August 16, 2023, 03:10:08 PM »
I know the TS head is not standard so will not be mentioned in the manuals.

I am a bit stubborn, so still trying to come up with Beehive springs and possibly lighter valves.
This may require modern (6mm stem?) valves and custom guides.
Guides are probably the least expensive part to have custom made.

To find a "Modern" valve to adapt I need specs for the TS valves for comparison.
Mine are shot so probably not the best for measurement.
Still finding the French sites frustrating, their format is either very thin on needed information or just plain does not provide it.
To make this more complex Alpine America says there are three possible variations.
I would like to find a site that gives the full valve specifications for the R17-TS/Fuego heads.

OK, found Renault TS valve specs.
Now to translate those into a 6mm stem valve.

Why?
Lighter and makes it possible to thin the upper portion of the guide for use with Beehive springs.
In theory the thinner stem would also flow a little more air.
Custom bronze guides should not be exorbitant in cost, I know a guy who has a nice CNC lathe that is often idle.

Found just the intake valve I am looking for.
Except the head is too 5mm too small.
Looking like custom but may not require such a large buy to get a decent price?
I will see in the morning.

Gave up on 6mm, going with just over 7mm at 9/32" (.281" - 7.1374mm).
Should still be lighter and increase flow just a tad.

Re-found this at GBS Alpine.

M0355 Valve springs Retainer 29g  16VB VC VD
M0355T Titane Valve springs Retainer 16g (Racing)  16VB VC VD

Sent an email looking for price and to confirm the Ti. retainers work with stock springs.

I know of no real reason not to use Ti. in place of steel.
They weight advantage is significant.
