Found and ordered a proper temp gauge today.
Next will be a sending unit.
I despise mechanical pressure gauges and plastic lines.

Well, now it IS my car!
Not sure if I should celebrate or commiserate.

   Congratulations on your car 👍👍

With a lot of trepidation I now intend to take the body off the frame.
But I cannot make this another full restoration.
So the scheme is:
To pull the body, make any needed chassis repairs.
Restore the dash, fix wiring.
Replace the water transfer pipes.
Fix the door sag.
Put it back together for sale.
Apply funds to my other S2.
All by June 2025.  :FUNNY:

On Wednesday I will find out what it cost to get Europa bumpers re-plated.
Then I have to decide if the increase in value justifies the cost.

Both doors removed today.
Drivers side pin was NOT fun.
Passenger side almost fell out.
I intend to do Hacille's ball hinge conversion ASAP.

The body is coming off and the dash out for re-laminating.
Now I see delamination at the edge of the windshield, I have a better one.
TRYING to avoid "Mission creep"!

Body off so that I may make any needed chassis repairs and document them.

Back into this one.
June now looks like August?
I have begun removing the engine and transmission.
I am baffled as to how the center lower manifold nuts are removed.
I cannot get a socket or a wrench to fit!
Even after removing the starter for access from below.
I hope a header upgrade will make reassembly simpler.
For now the engine is coming out with the manifolds still in place.
Finding the dash has separated in multiple layers, so all new is the plan.

A good day for RD Ent.
Ordered an S2 tube exhaust and 336 back-up lamp switch.
Considered getting a finned aluminum valve cover, but at the  price I will find a way to improve the original.

The headers from RD are perfect and sound really nice.
They just need a little trimming next to the intake manifold so the common nut can hold both evenly. I also wrapped mine.
I agree with you on the aluminum cover.  :holdurbreath:

I have had a fleeting thought of creating my own wedge head "Lotus" valve covers.
My casting set is too small.
Billet is crazy due to the cost of material.
If I can find someone local to weld aluminum for me this becomes possible.  8)

No longer "Running".
Engine and transmission out today.
It was not as bad as I had feared.
I hate that I am now removing many items I put on so recently.
But if I do not take the body off to deal with the chassis and transfer tubes I will be underwater at sale for certain.
Going to clean up everything I reasonably may, but NOT doing a paint job.
It does appear this car may have had some restoration once before.

Oh, as to the two impossible nuts?
I sacrificed a decent 13mm socket.
I had to shorten it and grind down the OD very heavily.
Fortunate that the brass nuts came loose easily once started.
I still do not know what was used to tighten them for the manifold conversion.
I hope that the new header exhaust will not be so ridiculously lacking in room for a socket.

NOT DOING THE PAINT JOB<>>> BLASPHENY. :FUNNY:

The inner lower two are the worst, especially when you place a heat shield below carb, which is why I took mine off.
I also have the mod specs for the hermes weber intake coolant line mod if you want.

I have the Warnford intake so water is already plumbed for it.
Headers came today, they will certainly look nicer, not sure how much power they will add.
