Spoiler/Air Box Repair
« on: Wednesday,April 05, 2017, 02:28:45 PM »
Hi:

My spoiler and air box both need repair.   Please see the pictures.  For the spoiler I was thinking of using some fiberglass (short strand) body filler and filling and shaping as needed.  For the Air Box I was thinking of using fiberglass matt and layering until flush.  I realize their will be a good bit of sanding.  Are my thoughts on track or is there a better/correct way of repair?

Also, what color were the spoiler and airbox originally, flat black, satin black or gloss black?

Thanks,
Sherman

Both look to be gloss black to me.

I would repair using fine fibreglass mat which looks like wet wipes to me.

I always thought the filter housing and air box were sort of satin black... Whatever floats your boat.

For the air box, you might try to line the inside with wax paper and then lay the mat over that. I'd do the chin spoiler as you suggested.
