FRONT BONNET STAY
« on: Saturday,May 02, 2015, 04:28:08 AM »
Good afternoon all
I have the arm in place to hold up the front cover but it appears to have no place to push into. Has anyone a picture they could post please of where the arm locates into.  Many thanks in anticipation
all the best
Stuart

There should be a hole on the fibreglass bonnet on the driver's side (RHD) where the metal rod pushes in.

If you don@t have a hole driller, I can measure the diameter and location for you.

The rod holds the bonnet open at about 60'.

4129r, thank you. There is no sign of any hole. I would assume either its had a repair or a new bonnet perhaps. Is there a grommet or any thing in the hole or is it just a hole through the fiberglass?
again thank you for your help

This is the way it is on my TCS:

The prop rod is anchored on the inside of the front trunk in a hole with a grommet on the passenger side at approx. 4 3/4" down from the lip of the trunk and 2 1/4" from the passenger side of the trunk. The hole in the bonnet is approx 10" from the rear edge of the bonnet (when closed, the edge closest to the windshield) and in the center side of the bonnet. The prop rod is about 1/4" D so the holes are large enough to accommodate the proper size grommet.

An S2 may be on a different side but the geometry should be very similar.

Here are some pictures.

Is there any need for a prop rod in front? I don't think I've used mine. I've always leaned the bonnet forward till it rests on its "stops" near the hinge. I guess it could blow back down but with any real wind I'm not sure the prop rod would be better.

 :)  ditto.

I just put a couple of rubber bungs at the front of the opening (mounted on the body) so you don't get fibreglass meeting fibreglass. Makes life much easier getting access to the plenum chamber or the random mechanical clutter in front of it.
