Title: Motorsport Archives
Post by: EuropaTC on Saturday,March 07, 2015, 11:49:49 PM
Hi folks. This is shamelessly copied from a post on the Elan forum, but I think it might have interest here. I'm thinking it might be handy for those of us who collect old articles from the 60s.

Motorsport (UK magazine) has apparently put it's back issues on line and as you might expect there are a few Europa related things in there.  For some reason I can see a few pages but others bounce you to the "please subscribe" page, which in truth it quite a reasonable thing if you're going to trawl their archives.

Here's one that I could get to http://www.motorsportmagazine.com/archive/article/august-1969/64/tailpiece (http://www.motorsportmagazine.com/archive/article/august-1969/64/tailpiece)  which is at the bottom of the page. Who said the Europa wasn't a practical towing car ?    :)

Brian

ps - for some of the UK readers, just look at the prices in the "for Sale" sections; a 16,000 mile Elan for £1075, a Porsche 356B for £444, a Jag XK140 for £150 - if only we'd known....

The Europa towing the house is quite a contrast in aerodynamics.

I would not wish to be towing that "brick" at 50 mph downhill in the slow lane of the M1 on a wet winter Friday evening, when an articulated lorry overtakes at 60mph.

The brakes on the Europa are fine for its weight, but add around 600kg of house on the back (1322 lbs) and I fear the tail would be wagging the dog.
