Title: Brake Drum Source?
Post by: My S1 on Wednesday,May 28, 2025, 08:31:09 AM
Presently, I have two different drums on my S1 and would like to replace them.  RD has some with the marking BDM6 exactly as one of mine but the cost is about $190.00 EACH.  Somewhere along the line I heard that they were originally sourced from Triumph.  All the usual Triumph parts suppliers sell drums for $20-30.00 each.  What do you guys recommend and is it possible to get a matched/balanced set from anyone?

The lowest I've seen them listed was about $90 from Rimmer Bros, out of stock of course.

They're the rear drums from a GT6, or the front drums off a US spec Herald. Conveniently everybody swaps those for discs on the Herald, so I have a decent pair or two, and some that I think have been machined too far. JB showed off a static balancing rig for using non-europa drums.

Currently available rear brake drums are not balanced.  They need to be balanced on a Europa.
