Title: Fuel pump europa s2
Post by: rawiz on Wednesday,May 21, 2025, 09:20:47 AM
Hello. Just replacing perished fuel pipes on my working lotus europa s2. Has anyone seen this arrangement of connections to the fuel pump before please? One line is blanked off (a return line perhaps?), is this the wrong fuel pump but a known OK modification cos original mechanical pumps unobtanium or something? Thank you.

It’s been a long time since I’ve looked at a stock Renault fuel pump but one line should be going to the carb and the other is the return back to the tank. The return line should be going back to the bulk head fitting on the front of the fuel tank that is also the level sender. It’s possible that a PO replaced the sender with one that does not have a return nipple.

That's an original pump, with the little clamping bar and screw holding the top down. There's a pickup line at the base of the tank, then a return thru the tank sender and supply to the carb on the same outlet tee.

Thank you for the info. Is this likely to cause pump issues, etc, if no return?

I’ll get a photo of the fuel tank later.
