Title: Trim interior pillars, A posts
Post by: kram350kram on Saturday,December 31, 2022, 08:43:20 AM
Anyone shed some light on the interior trim that was on a TCS called "trim windscreen filler" parts 24,25 shown in the Service Parts Listing pg. BG. B103?  Were these just material or was there a filler backing like the cantrails at the window top?

When I stripped my TCS, it was just the vinyl wrapped around the edges of the pillars, no filler or shaping strips

Just vinyl wrapped around the flanges on the door and on the windshield side.  Some folks have filled the A pillar with expanding foam and carved it back to provide some additional stiffness; I know of a couple folks who've also embedded thin conduit in the foam and up and over the top of the door...but that to me is overkill.  YMMV.

A pillars are notoriously weak up where they meet the roof.  Putting some kind of reinforcement would be an excellent idea.  A strip of steel shaped and epoxied in place would do the trick.
