Title: Steering clamp maybe?
Post by: John R on Thursday,July 01, 2021, 10:23:20 AM
Hi  all
After 6 months of hard garft I'm just putting the Europa TCS back together but just can't work out where this part goes.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

I have never see that part fitted on the 6 TCS and 1 TC I have pulled apart and rebuilt.

What size is it? What diameter is the round end clamp?

Presumably it is made out of steel.

Looks too small to be an exhaust clamp.

I cannot think of anything else round, apart from the steering column, that needs clamping, but the clamp for that is definitely a U bolt attaching to a special bracket bolted to the bottom of the dashboard.

There's not one on my car and I've never seen one (and I am the original owner of my car and I rebuilt it from the ground up). That must have come from the PO.

I’d go with the exhaust clamp . To be sure look at the lower crossbrace under the luggage tray for those bolt holes.

Thanks to everyone for the comments.
I've come to the conclusion that it's NOT a TCS part rather from some other non automotive assembly  :confused:that accidentally found its way into the parts box.

it looks like the clamp that holds the "nose" of a lockheed servo unit

I think you're right in which case I was wrong that my car didn't have one. It actually has two!
