Title: Europa TCS Speedo Identification
Post by: lrov90 on Tuesday,September 18, 2018, 12:10:15 AM
Hi,

I am trying to track down the the correct speedo for my Ex Federal TCS with a 352 gearbox. Someone at some stage has replaced the speedo with one in KPH. It has the same look as the original, however over reads by about 15%.

Awhile ago I purchased a NOS MPH speedo for the car. It has the face number SN-5226/12 which I though was correct. I fitted it to the car but it over reads by around 30%.

Any suggestions to which spec speedo is correct for the car?

Cheers

Gavin

The Golden Gate Lotus Club lists the part number.  http://gglotus.org/ggpart/europacr.htm

Most/all mechanical speedos are calibrated to read higher than actual.  15% is not bad.  I have seen worse.  It is to prevent tickets due to speedometer error.  Google speedo calibration for a shop close to you that can recalibrate the one you have.
