Title: Speedo/trans junction fitting
Post by: BERNIEHUMBER on Sunday,August 26, 2018, 02:07:37 PM
HI:
What size grease fitting goes in the threaded plug hole that I have pointed to on the speedo junction fitting?
I am taking a trip up to the Europa to work on it and I want to take the correct size Zerk with me.
Thanks.

A needle grease fitting will work:

HI:
Thanks for the suggestion.
I have the attached fitting that does somewhat the same function and with the poly tip there is better applied grease pressure.
My hope is to replace the threaded plug with a zerk but failing that ...

Use a light grease.  There is no need to grease it often.  A wee bit every oil change would be more than enough.

HI: FYI
I took up a 8MM X .75MM / STRAIGHT Zerk and it worked fine.Put a couple of light grease pumps in and we be done.
It was done for convenience more than anything as the other grease gun fittings would have done the job with just the threaded plug removed.

Back in the day I had to machine a new cross shaft(?)(see attached diag) and the reason being shaft corrosion  was making shifting more onerous than it already was.I put in a zerk fitting in the culprit area so that friction point would always be well treated.
