Title: Window frame sealant, what to use?
Post by: Clifton on Saturday,August 18, 2018, 03:44:34 PM: It looks like something hard was used to fill the gap between the aluminum frame and door frame. What sealant works best when putting the frame back in? Does anyone have a pic showing the meeting of the two? My cars was in pretty bad condition when I got it so I don't know what it should look like.

Im not sure what the proper sealant/ or gasket? to use is, but i would also like to know.

This is what mine seems like except it is only partially there. The PO painted the car so I wasn't sure if he did it or if it was factory.

The sealant had hardened over the years and was a pain to get out. I plan on using clear 100% silicon to reinstall the frames in addition to the two pop rivets.

PPG products work great , pr1829 is a good choice for windshield and canopy’s. The PPG home page can guide you to a good choice, I also like there firewall sealants that can also be used and are easier to scrape off , and remain flexible and waterproof. Color choice is limited to gray, reddish orange, green and black , but they may have others. 2oz container is enough for both windows and is not reusable.
