Title: S1 rear lights on Ebay UK ?
Post by: EuropaTC on Thursday,September 10, 2015, 09:29:46 AM
Folks,

This is of no interest to me but knowing how many S1's we have on here it might be good for some of you guys.  My Ebay search popped this one up today....

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Used-Lotus-Europa-S1-47-Carello-rear-light-set-/262041900574?hash=item3d02ea161e (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Used-Lotus-Europa-S1-47-Carello-rear-light-set-/262041900574?hash=item3d02ea161e)

No affiliation with seller, etc, etc. I don't even know if they are the real deal but at least they look similar to photos I've seen on old road tests.

They are not quite the correct ones but they could easily be modified to the correct shape.  If you look at the side profile, you can see they are meant to be mounted on a curved panel.  That would have to be cut so they can mount on a flat panel.

I didn't know that John, I'd just assumed that because the lamp arrangement looked similar to the B&W road tests I've got then they were the same units.  And although I've seen what I was told was an S1 1/2 I don't think I've ever seen a genuine S1 with the lights on.

Does that mean Lotus had a bespoke lamp unit made for them by someone or did they just modify these Carello units ?

Similar lights used on two different Lancias.

The correct ones are off a Lancia Flavia:

However, the ebay auction ones can be modified to suit.
