My S1 460432
« on: Tuesday,April 09, 2019, 09:58:13 AM »
Purchased the S1 460432 from CA in April 2018. It runs great with Gordini x-flow head, twin Weber 40 DCOE, and 5-speed box. My 1972 TC has a 4AGE engine with NG 3 5-speed box. Now I have two yellow ones.

They are stunning! I have the same question as Roddy, how do they compare? Can you elaborate on the driving experience to us?

Nice pair! Great illustration on the subtle difference in pre-fed to post-fed headlight placement between the S1 and S2. The S1 is prettier IMHO.

Nice pair of Europas. That cross-flow looks very tidy.

Yes it is, and thanks for pointing that out. I am preparing for a model building project where I need to convert a Twin Cam shell to an S1, and have been searching for good photos that illustrate the differences. The photo above is the best I've seen yet.

Mr 460384, if it is alright with you, I'm going to swipe a copy of the photo of your two Europas for my references.
The Twin Cam plays the symphony whilst my right foot conducts the orchestra. At 3800 rpm the Mad Pipe Organ joins in.

Another main difference is the floor pan. The S1 has a completely clean transition from the side of the body to the floor of the car. This is most visible under the door. The S2 and TC have a step in the floor.

Yes, my 1972 TC has black stripes as you suggested, but no number.

S1 is much lighter (about 200 lbs), lower and feels quicker, like a pure race car. TC is a much more civilized car, especially this one with AC. The TC is FI 4AGE and NG3 with cable shift.
