Title: '70 S2 for sale on BaT
Post by: BDA on Wednesday,March 27, 2024, 10:40:05 AM
There's a pretty nice S2 for sale on BaT. It has an 807 engine (and two radiators!).

Results will be interesting as the car is similar in spec to my ongoing build.
This one is not as highly tuned of an engine as mine, and I will have only one radiator.
My car was Hill-Climbed at altitude with 33mm chokes in 40mm DCOE's.
I have also considered cloth seat inserts as it gets a bit warm here in summer.
I do see a couple of items there that I would just have to change, painted bumpers and lack of air filters to start.

I saw the car in person. I know the seller, he bought my Esprit S1 two years ago. $6500 drive it as is.

This one had better triple from the current bidding or he should not sell it.
I have double the current bid into my similar project car and the meter is still running.
Does no one value the actual Car and Labor anymore?

I see cars that were horrible when new, and are still horrible today, selling for silly money on BAT.
Not sure what buyers of those horrid cars are thinking. (Looking at YOU BMW Isetta, King Midget, NSU, Subaru 360, VW Bus, and so many more!)
Then great cars like this go under appreciated?

Last minute run up in the bidding to sell for $16,250 plus premium.

Still seems a bit light to me.
Maybe chrome bumpers, repainting the valve cover, real air filters, and a few other details would have made a significant difference?

Congratulations to new forum member Mid-EngineEnthusiast on the purchase of this S2. Good luck on the drive home, and be sure to show us a few photos. Cheers  :beerchug:
