First post.
A few shots of my 1969 S2. I've been restoring for a few years.
It started out as a very rough example with the wrong Renault 18 engine and box badly fitted to a reasonable spyder chassis.
Having sorted the chassis and failing to find a crossflow Renault engine I've gone down the zetec route.
The body was pretty shabby, so underwent a rebuild with new bulkhead and lots of repair work all round.
I've had a couple of years off the project whilst building a new house and have recently started again.
Change of plan so I've sold on the original body and bought a Banks type 47 which I've just started to fettle.
Still got a huge amount of work to do.
Won't be a purists car but then I'm not building it for a purist.
Cheers

Sorry guys seems the photo files are to big to upload. Ah well. .

There are lots of ways to reduce the size of photos so you can post them. I run on Windows 7 and it comes with a tool call the "snipping tool". It allows you to capture a portion of your screen to a file. I display the photograph on the screen and use the snipping tool to capture the part of the photo - or all of it - to a file and post that. Some cameras come with editing tools that allow you to crop or save the picture at a lower resolution. I would bet that there are free tools available on the Interweb that can do the same thing.
Good luck! We want to see your pictures!!!

How's this?
-
And a few of the rolling chassis
-
Very nice!!! Are you going to be running a Zetec?
-
Welcome to the forum, Mr jedi. It looks like you are well on your way to an awesome Europa. Looking forward to seeing more. Cheers.
-
Yes, 1.8 with delorttos.
-
Cool! That will be a lot of fun! :beerchug:
-
Does look good, I like the rear suspension set up, are you fitting rear discs?
-
Yes, I've fitted MGF rear setup. It's a fairly common mod on Triumph spitfires etc.
-
My 72 TC has Miata rear disc brakes. It works good. You might want to consider that as an option.
-
I've seen that done , looks good. I've already fitted the MGF brakes. Incidentally I've fitted S1 Elise disks and calipers on the front. Photos attached.
-
Very nice! It even says Lotus on the caliper!
-
Making progress with the body, spent many hours making the doors, bonnet and engine cover fit. lots and lots of filling and priming.
Firewall made and fitted.
Fitted the first fuel tank today and started to close off the inner arches.

Off thread slightly, been a bit distracted by this young upstart. Bought it last week, needs a bit of fettling. Then selling it on.
-
That's looking good! What color are you going to paint it (or do you want to keep it a surprise?
Keep those pictures coming!
:lotus:
-
Not finalised the colour yet. I love this blue over cream but may go for yellow over cream.
-
Your car looks fantastic. Is the interior closer to s1 or s2? I love that subtle little arch in the rear fender of those japanese cars.
-
Is the front hood from Bank? It looks great! I need one for my TC with full radiator cross the front.
-
You car is coming together very nicely. I love the Banks 47 body! It is going to be a very nice car when your done.
-
Yes I love the round rear arch and was considering doing the same, but I feel it would also need the big tyres to fill them. Which would be fine if running a V8 but way too much for my little Zetec.
Richard at Banks does the round arches.
The front cover is one of his. I want to keep the front end lift down and improve the cooling. So seems a logical mod. Looks pretty good as well.
-
Oh yes forgot to say, I have the original S2 interior which will go back in after some attention .
-
nice to see a fellow zetec e its looking good ,im going down the same route . have you worked out your exhaust yet , im working on car outside so weather dependant bit cold at mo. cheers Derek
-
Hi Derek,
No haven't got anywhere with the exhaust. Spydersportscars do there's across the back like an Elise but it takes up a lot of room. So no boot box.
I'm still pondering vertical silencers in the rear corners behind the wheel arches, there's a lot of dead space there. Mercedes do it in the SLR.
-
spyder a good company but not cheap! like your brake conversions , im thinking exhaust wise rwd escort + large acoss car silencer & also keeping luggage box Derek
-
Does the rwd escort manifold fit round the driveshafts and wishbones? I've just got the standard fwd escort manifold on.
-
Hi looking at clearance on exhaust i think its going to be custom job ,could use std ex as starting point just flange & stubs .its long way off on to do list yet Derek
