:newhere:
Thank you all for having me,nice to be a part if this comunity!
My name is Gabriel and im from Bucharest Romania, ive recently bought a S2 Europa witch i umported from Switzerland
The car has been bought new in 1970 and the owner drive it for 6 years
In 1976 he parked it in storage and never seen the light again untill i bought it in January of this year
Excpet a few modifications that the PO made the car was pretty much original ,a dash console was added some gauges, seatbelts ...all aded during the 6 years of use ..
The engine however is seisez, this being the 1470 cc Renault engine it turned out is not a very easy job traking parts expacialy pistons!
I'm no mechanic I just have a passion for old cars ,so my knowledge is very limited!as Switzerland is not in the UE I ended up paying import taxes with brought the cars price pretty high with transport and everything on top.. so I hope in the end it will be worth it and I've made a good purchase!
Tomorow I'm taking the car to a friends garage and he will take out the engine and il find out what's inside!
I'm hoping to be able to save the pistons and get as much information on this forum
Thanks again for having me

Looks nice! Love to see more photos.

:Welcome: Luciano!!!
That's a pretty S2! JB is certainly not the only one here who wants to see more pictures of your new baby!
There are several ways of resizing your pictures. Some people prefer this method: http://www.lotuseuropa.org/LotusForum/index.php?topic=1379.0
I seem to be the only one using this method (assuming you're using a recent Windows OS) but you might like it!:
1. display the picture on the screen
2. run a program called the "snipping tool." It allows you to save an area of your screen image to a file.
3. in the snipping tool menu, choose "New." The screen will lighten and a cross hair cursor will come up.
4. with the cross hair cursor choose the portion of the picture (or all if you prefer) you want to post.
5. click disk icon to save the chosen part of the screen to a file.
6. post the new file
It's very easy if my description wasn't helpful, here's a video explaining it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCjI0f1yeVY&feature=youtu.be
Great to have you here and don't be shy with your pictures and plans for your car!
-
I'm not sure if this is ok to post but I have some pictures uploaded here! https://ibb.co/album/fBx7Jv
I'm planning on completely restore the car
I have allready ordered some of the parts with Banks
-
Works for me!
She looks like a great platform to build a great car on! We'd love to hear of your progress, questions, comments, stories...
Are you planing a body off restoration?
-
So far I have not made any progress other than researching and reading the forums
Tomorrow the car will be taking to the service shop and engine will be taking off for rebuild ,and I will know what I'm facing regarding the engine,I hope I can save the pistons
My initial plans was to do a body on restoration but I'm not sure how that will actually work
I have all the brakes, bushings, center console, plastic trunk(was missing) I want to keep the roof console as the roof material looks good but has a hole where the console is so cant remove it
I'm also thinking of reapplying the stripes as I like it looks with the.
-
Welcome. It looks good in the pictures!!
-
Thanks
Owner only had it on the road for 6 years so it should be a pretty solid base to start with
Chassis does not have rust and the car is complete
-
Hi Luciano!

Mark

:Welcome: Luciano1985! Looks like a great restoration project!
-
:Welcome:
Nice looking car. Hope it's a relatively easy fix for you!
Enjoy the journey.
-
Had a look at the album, sweet!
Have you considered leaving the paint alone? It looks pretty good actually.
-
:Welcome: Luco!
Beautiful car! Looks like everything rubber needs replacement, but otherwise a great survivor. I agree with JB that the paint and stripe work looks good as is. Congrats on a great Europa!

Thank you all for a kind welcome
The car has just went in to the shop today!
All rubbers have been ordered with a lot of other parts!
The paint has some bad areas and the fiber glass has "spider web"cracks, however the new paint will be the same and the stripes will be reapplied
-
And now the restoration begins! :beerchug:
-
Yes...so far nuts in the filter hope they dont find the squirl inside the engine

Oh boy - just wait till you get a look inside the backbone!

Engine now disambled
The piston rods are stuck in to the pistons
They are not stuck , they are pressed in . If you don’t need to remove , don’t. If the piston swivels on the rod and wrist pin leave it. If you wish to remove the procedure is in the workshop manual and the tooling required. They , the pins only come out one way. The orientation going back together on the rod is also one way only. All this is in the manual.
Congrats on your progress!

She looks great, Luciano! I have to say that if you're going to keep her stock, you'll have to get rid of the broom! ;D
-
You won't belive what came out from the old carpets..i still fell like scratching while thinking about it
Broom was a must have :))(
-
Luciano that looks fabulous!!
Any spots to watch out for? Did you have any trouble with the engine bay channels? That is the spot I am most worried about running...
