Pressure under 1974 Europa TC

(1/2) > >>

kram350kram:
Is there any aerodynamic consensus on air pressure under a Europa, high or low? I would think low, so any NACA duct under the car should be orientated to assist air removal, specifically from the engine compartment at the gas tanks. Thanks for any input.

Sandyman:
The engine area is a hot low pressure area. Any way to induce more air into this area is good. Type47 double snorkel is a extreme example.

BDA:
This is the most complete aerodynamics analysis I've seen on the Europa (maybe the only!) so you might get your answer here (http://lotus-europa.com/manuals/misc/aero/Europa%20Aerodynamics.htm). From the looks of it, the pressure under the car is relatively low.

Thanks perfect.

Air flows in through the bottom and the cut-outs for the radius arms.  It flows out through the vents in the engine cover and then back in at the rear!  Air recirculation is a major issue.  It gets HOT in there.  Certainly the open grill of the S1/2 make it even worse.

47 style NACA ducts on the quarters help but they really do not flow much air.  I'm giving serious consideration to add an air scoop to force cool air in.  Just behind the driver would be perfect as it wouldn't block the rear view mirror.
