Have you just left them, or have you managed to find a way of getting rid of them?

My car has lots.

Sadly there's no way that I've heard of to remove them without going back to bare fibreglass. If you find something that works, post it as a stickie here !

A common problem with boats apparently and I even think I've seen references to paint problems with the Emira.  My Europa developed some blisters between 2005-11 when I didn't use it and it was stood in an outbuilding for months on end which resulted in a respray.   My S1 Elise developed a few very small blisters last year around the lower quarters. I've had it from new in '99 and it spent the first 5yrs outside and has been garaged ever since.  It's never had any paintwork so these are genuine Lotus blisters.

It's moisture coming through the fibreglass from the unsealed back of the panel. It's never happened on the Elan in over 45+yrs but the layup there is considerably thicker than either the Europa or Elise. You can get treatments to prevent it coming back and at some point, if the Elise gets unsightly, then I'll respray it and after stripping the paint I'll try to bake the panels before sealing the back.

Those leopard spots were in the 1-3 cm range. I assume it was from moisture working its way up from behind the paint.

That pedal travel sounds about right Bryan, when I was doing calcs on my system I got 1.49" travel for the standard disc/drum setup with a 0.7" m/cyl.

Ok, that does depend to some extent on what you expect the disc run out/brake shoe travel to be, but it's about there.

I’m not a fan of the Cyber Truck, especially how it looks, either but the one on auction at BaT is bid above the list price ($110K bid; $102K list with five days left): https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2024-tesla-cybertruck-awd-7/.

So far, not much of a payday but for a 300 mile truck, it’s not nothing. Don’t ask me to explain it.

I think you’re right about the fiberboard. That’s more in line with Lotus practice than screen.

Confirmed, TESLA is laying off 700 employees.
That long wait, is going to get longer!

The CyTruck flippers on BAT are rapidly losing their margin of profit.
There is a recall already, and Tesla has to give you permission to resell so quickly too.
In a year current MSRP may not be possible, I expect a price reduction.

And nothing can fix the Ugly.
Yes it's true, I am not a fan.

No, but I’ll definitely get one next time.  Bill, the owner did get into my Europa, he grinned ear to ear and mentioned the spectrum difference. He can’t wait to drive mine also.
Re- wiring  my instrument lights has been challenging , but I should be done tomorrow, now with everything working.

Got the new Spitfire .70 MC plumbed in…bench bled…EZBleed the whole system and flushed 1 qt of new DOT3 fluid through.  Kept bleeding till the new fluid ran clear…no bubbles.

Thinking the whole fluid dynamics thing…I've probably 1.5” of travel with the .7 MC.  I'd like the pedal higher a bit.  Now that I’ve got standard SAE fittings…may try a .75 and see if that gives me higher pedal.  Of course, have to adjust rear brakes, too.

In any case, going to send out my S2 MC and the one I just took off anyway.  I actually liked the original MC even sans boosters.  Only issue is now since I trimmed back the feed lines so I could put the jumpers in for the other side ports…if I do put the original back in…well, cross that bridge when or if it shows up.

Took out for a ride...seemed ok (if a bit more travel on the pedal)...and 8 hours later, no drips on the garage floor and the fluid level is still where it was when I took the EZBleed cap off.  Need to reinstall the chassis close plate (since it does provide the ground for the blinkers, rad fan, and who knows what else...

Off (maybe?) to the next project.

I’ve heard of the Pels setup, but no details. Is the adapter for mating a 365 tranny to the 4AGE?

Hi Bryan

I think you might be right. Maybe I will just get my brother to laser them and then just paint them myself. It's always tempting for me to get stuff sandblasted and powder coated as it costs me nothing. I really do not want the frames damaged any more than they are already. I think perhaps a 2k etch primer then hammerite or similar will suffice.

Edit: Thinking about it a couple of coats of epoxy primer would be a better choice. No need for a top coat that way also.

Thanks!

Berni

Sandblasting is so so destructive.  I prefer beadblasting, or, if it's really delicate, soda.

You have decent bones there, Berni.  Good epoxy primer after cleaning up, and a topcoat of paint would not be out of place.

Good luck.
