New member from South America
« on: Wednesday,January 12, 2022, 06:57:36 PM »
Hi all!

I'm from Uruguay and currently own an Elise S1. I would really loved to own an Europa. Recently we are allowed to import cars with more than 50 years without taxes.

I've been reading the forum from some time and learned a lot! I'm after an Europa from 69-72, LHD. Any help really appreciated!

Cheers!

Welcome to the forum, Gonzalo. I really like the S1 Elise. It was spotting an Elise S1 in Bristol, UK in 2000 that turned me on to Lotus in a serious way. However, it wasn't until recently when I saw an S1 Elise parked next to a newer Elise that I realised how much smaller the S1 is. In fact, it struck me as quite Europa like. A Europa would make for a nice companion for your Elise. Good luck with your search.
The Twin Cam plays the symphony whilst my right foot conducts the orchestra. At 3800 rpm the Mad Pipe Organ joins in.

 :Welcome:

   Gonzalo

Members post cars seen from ebay, barnfind, and bring a trailer, in the for sale section. The EU has a bulletin board of items and cars also.
I'll try to find that link and pass it on.
 again Welcome

Sorry for the delay in replying.  Had to join the group in order to view the ad.  It seems like a reasonable driver that needs a LOT of cosmetic work.  You are also paying UK prices.  It would have been quite a bit cheaper in the US.

Thank you very much for your reply!

I think I'm going to wait, it is even better (cheaper) from me buying from the US as the transport cost is also cheaper. I saw better examples even in BaT for the same price. The only advantage in buying from UK is that I have a friend who knows very well Lotus and can have a look before buying.

I saw the yellow Europa recently advertised: https://barnfinds.com/almost-finished-1971-lotus-europa-2/ What do you think?

Thanks again.

Gonzalo.

Quite a bit better condition externally, somewhat better interior and unknown mechanical but much cheaper!
