Fire Extinguisher
« on: Saturday,June 26, 2021, 04:51:02 AM »
Just finished the installation of a Safecraft extinguisher. First I moved the battery,I got a smaller one,Honda Fit size and made a marine ply and west epoxy box for it,it fits nicely in the rear left corner. Remade the cables then removed the seat and threaded the activation cable alongside the throttle cable. The extinguisher is bolted to 2””x1/4” alloy,u bolted to the cross braces. I hope I never need it !! FYI the floor mat, ocean state job lots ,$5, exactly correct floor width,I cut and rebound around wheel arch. Also one fits the trunk.I also couldn’t resist turning my alternator pulley into a ‘movie reel’ style !

Very well thought out modifications 👍👍

I’ll keep this post in mind when I purchase a bottle.  Do they sell a smoke test bottle to test the pattern of dispersion.

I went with a gas system as well.  Better in the colder climes and has longer service intervals.  Remember, you have to come to a complete stop first!  Otherwise the gas is just sucked away.

X2 on that . maybe add mousetrap doors on the vent holes.

First rule , STOP , silence the warning, arm/ disperse the agent.  There are other steps but that’s what commercial airline technicians do when taxing .

You do very nice work.  Can you please post a picture of the battery and box?

Thanks for that. Today just added a cut off in the negative line. Sprayed the handle red and it blends in alongside the license plate.  The box goes to almost the top of the battery at the outer side but inside had to be low enough to tip the battery in. It’s held down with a seat belt! Also I sleeved the pos line in red Pex, heat shrink on each end ,where it runs through the frame on its way to the starter. There is always something to fiddle with. Also just got two in line fuel shut off valves for under each tank.

If someone flips that switch while it's running, you'll fry your alternator.
