Seller claims to be second owner and that the engine makes 195-200 HP.

Price is escalating very rapidly but not that many bidders.
Still five days to go.
Seller says it can be driven cross-country if he puts $300.00 worth of tires on it first.
I wonder if it will break the $20K barrier?

The color looks like Bahama Yellow which I'm a fan of. @ JB  Can you run that motor on 93 Octane if the compression is no in12:1.  200 HP seems optimistic.

Sure you can get 200 hp, just put a blower on it and leave the HC pistons in.  The real question is, how long will it make 200 hp?

No it cant, it would need to be on 98 octane as used in the UK & a cross flow 'big' bore engine, large capacity engine with very hairy cam, induction & exhaust system using lots of rpm, mainly above 4000, 200 bhp could well be possible but 100 bhp per ltr is very hard to achieve, 1960s GP engine target.

Looks like an Else rocker cover.

As discussed, HP claim is wildly optimistic.
The Twin Cam plays the symphony whilst my right foot conducts the orchestra. At 3800 rpm the Mad Pipe Organ joins in.

49 bids, sold at $12,100.00 and no last second bids.
I hope the buyer is not too disappointed when the engine does not produce 200 HP as claimed.

@MRN I J  The UK uses a different octane rating system than the US so 98 (RON) octane is the same as 93 (AKI) octane in the US.

Sorry, didnt realise, I thought you had poor quality fuel in the US.

We do, without paying $7.00 per gallon the best I may readily buy is only 91 RON, or two points lower than your 98.
At 12-1 compression this becomes a real issue for my S2.
One of the reasons I am looking at fitting a second fuel tank.

When I used to frequent a Mercedes forum, a poster, who seemed to know what he was talking about, said that European gasoline was better than US gasoline. Unfortunately, I don’t remember what made it better. If I had to guess, and I do, his point was likely that it burned cleaner leaving fewer deposits. I did find this (https://www.etuners.gr/fuel/) which states US and European gasoline are equal. I don’t know the truth but just present those two perspectives.
