This looks like it should fetch a good price.

The red interior might be polarizing. What do you think?

I think she’s a beauty! I can see where red interior a little off putting for some but everything is so well done! He should get a very good price for her!
-
Agree, this one should do well. Overboard on the interior...
-
The interior looks nicely done.....should be in a white or black car I think.
-
It will be interesting to see what an S2 with very similar specification to my own brings.
-
Nice car all in all . Hope he gets a good price.

Is that the standard windscreen trim for a S2 or is that the owner thinking outside of the box?
-
the windscreen gasket and lock strip looks like what rd enterprises considers that model replacement.
mine looks like an amateur installed it, i see from this example, but i'll do better next time.
-
I suspect the owner might have been a fan of "The Prisoner".

That is how the S1 and early S2 windshields were installed. later S2 and TC/S Europas had the windshield bonded in.

The colour scheme looks to have been based on the Team Lotus single seaters, Jim Clark era. BRG with yellow pin stripe with Team Lotus near the cockpit and red seat (sometimes steering wheel too).
As for the windscreen trim, as JB has said but as a side note...mine was originally a bonded screen S2 but has been converted to the earlier type of fitment as per the car for sale without very much effort other than careful measuring and a bit of cutting.

Hey it worked on the Type 23B.

Just sold for $35,799! A good price, I think.
-
There they go again, trying to make my car too valuable to be driven as intended!
Seems it is now the most valuable (Potentially) car I own.
BAT car went for about $10K more than I would have expected for not a Twink.
-
I am in no way a Lotus (or any car) appraiser but I was looking fo a $30,000 price at least. It was so nicely put together and I think the Gordini head was icing on the cake.
I don’t really “understand” S2s, (why would you want one of those when you could have a TC?) but the more I learn about how people see and appreciate them, the more I appreciate them.
-
I must be of the few who prefer the Renault powered cars and their body shell with the full height buttresses!
-
I was interested in looking for an S2 but couldn't even find one within driving distance to look at or try on for size....maybe next one....
-

And me, the TC looks 1/2 finished with its short buttresses, why bother with a TC engine when the Gordini head can easily put you on a par or beyond, mind as a STD Renault engined car it was fairly pedestrian, my Cooper S was far faster in a straight line & around corners at 1st.
-
It's a matter of personal taste. Myself? I like the early style body best.
-
A Goldilocks exercise?
The S1 is the lightest and purist form with probably the fewest creature comforts.
The TC/TCS is heaviest but more comfortable that all prior.
The S2 is perhaps the Goldilocks option . . . just right. ;D
*ducks*

Whoa! I thought we agreed we wouldn't talk about religion or politics!?!? ;)

Yeah, I might have stepped into both with that one! :)
Keep in mind I've evolved in my thinking and have come to appreciate the S2 (though I still prefer the TC)! 8)
-
I really would not have paid as much for a TC in the same condition as my S2-TS project.
Rumors of TC engines costing $10K for a proper rebuild stop me cold.
And I do prefer the S2 body.
-
I always wanted a s2, possibly s1 but had to settle for my tcs as I couldn't find the right car at the right price.
-
We are all lucky to own / drive these wonderful, unique pieces of automotive history. Personal taste is "personal". What a boring World this would be if were all were forced to have only one option.
-
Nobody has to settle!
I have all 3 styles :) and none of them work in the true Europa fashion!
Its a good thing too or I would be tempted to sell mine!!!
