Nothing to do with me but seems to be a reasonable price.

I'm wondering if this tranny came out of the "toasted" Europa on ebay a few months ago. The seller posted the same car locally on Craigslist for several weeks. The posting is expired. He may be trying to part the car out.

It’s hard to tell but it looks to me like the toasted car is a 4 speed because the rear tranny mounting plate looks flat on the top. Also the end cover doesn’t look like a 365 end cover to me.

Even if it did come out of that car, I don’t think that would scare me. I’d replace all the seals but I doubt that if the fire did get to the tranny that it got hot enough to damage it.

My experience of 4 speeds is the tube supporting the gearbox at the back is a V shape, but for a 5 speed it is a U shape with a flat part between the two gearbox mounting plates.

This may be the difference between the TC and the later TCS, but my 72 has a V tube and a 4 speed, and all my 73 and 74s have a U tube and 5 speeds.

The toasted car looks like a U tube supporting the back gearbox mountings.

There are three chassis types for TC/S.  First is for thew early cars with a 336 transaxle.  It has a deep hoop, bracketry, and mount that matches the S1/2.  Second uses a shallow hoop with brackets for the 352 transaxle.  Last has a shallow hoop with two bolt mounts piercing the hoop.  This fit either the 352 or 365, each with their own mounting bracket.

Thanks for that reference. My TC has #9 tube and a 352 gearbox, and all my TCS have #10 tubes and 365 gearboxes.

You're right BDA, not the same car.
