Well, that was a trip back in time. Looking at the pictures, I was surprised to see coco mats exactly like the ones in my Europa. Right after I got my car I ordered a set of gold and black mats from an advertisement in Road & Track magazine. I received a letter from the president of the company saying that they did not have a pattern for the Europa but if I would make them a pattern they would make a set to my pattern. Looks like they made more than one set.

Very nice jps.  I thought the jps plaque was on the right side of dash and thought jps are all 1973.  Is 74 because that is when sold.

It could well be. Though the build date on my car is July 73, it was registered as a 74 (original sale date was January 74), so I thought it was a 74. After attending LOG 33 this year and talking to other Europa owners, I learned the differences between a 73 and a 74, and discovered my car is actually a 73.
The Twin Cam plays the symphony whilst my right foot conducts the orchestra. At 3800 rpm the Mad Pipe Organ joins in.

Many folks make the assumption that the cars are one year when they are another.  I had to  change  my cars to the correct Vin and year when I registered them.  They were all wrong.

As an example, the Vin on my Europa is four numbers and a letter. That is the Vin.
Many furrin' cars from the era were registered in the year sold, not made.

Corrections to my opinion are welcome.

Joe, I bought JPS#188 back in Sept. On mine the round JPS plaque is on the right center of the dash. I'll be watching this auction very closely. My bank appraised my JPS Europa at +$23k, I paid much less than that.

My Europa left the factory in aug. 73, but it wasn't registered until june '74. It is a Federal Special (yellow with pin stripes) and originally without the optional 5 speed gearbox.

When I imported it to Denmark, it meant a lot for the registration tax that I could prove it was from '73. Especially the VIN number (74/3904R) as stamped on the chassis set me back a little, but it all worked out in the end when I got a written letter from the factory that '74/' was the model number and the car in fact a '73 model. Whatever that is regarding a Lotus...  :o
