S1 Water Pump Rebuild
« on: Wednesday,March 15, 2023, 10:26:29 AM »
My S1 has the original model # 46E6297 water pump with the bleeder valve.  So far all I can find for a replacement is the #A054E6058 water pump W/O bleeder and new casting.  Does anyone know of a shop that can rebuild my original?  Preferably in the States or Canada?

RD has them.  The bleeder valve just replaces a bolt that is on the top, nothing too hard to swap from your existing.  Cardone used to overhaul them, but stopped 8 or 10 years ago.  Don't know if anyone else is doing them.

I really want to hold onto the original numbered pump.  The former owner, Johannes Ditz, did a remarkable job of restoring the car with all original parts so I feel allot of anxiety oi I change even a nut from original to new.  Is there a rebuild kit available out there?

Yes, you can rebuild them.  You can get parts here:

http://aseindustries.com

They will not know what you need.  You have to take it apart, measure and order accordingly.  Some seals require special tools to install.  Just an FYI, if you haven't done one before, it's easy to screw things up.
