Garage / Renault Engine: size of bolt on cam pulley?
« Last post by buroz on Today at 09:59:38 AM »
I seem to have misplaced the bolt which held the cam pulley on (took it off around 10 years ago). Anyone know what size it should be? I'm assuming it's going to be metric?

...I think it's the cam pulley...

I have know the 1/2" diameter nut on the 5/16" UNF bolt holding the UJ to the rack, to hit the chassis

Well, I found that I couldn't get my hand and a spanner around the back of the dash, but after a bit of wiggling, I was able to rotate the column sufficiently to enable me to get a drill into the two snap bolts. and when I drilled out the two tiny roll pins and had a look inside the lock - NOTHING WAS BROKEN !
I stripped it down fully expecting something to drop out, but nothing (well only the tiny spring which holds a lever on the outside of the actual lock bit). There were a few burrs on the ally but nothing of note, and when reassembled, the locking bar was protruding but when the key was turned the bar retracted and stayed that way until the key was removed.
So now I'm on to looking at the other end of the steering column and rack.
Grrrrrr.

FourLoti, you have it bad!!!

Seriously, congratulations! Whenever a great Brit car is rescued it is always a good thing!

Feel free to post about it in the "Off Topic Subjects" section!

Trevor's car.

Travels Very Rapidly.

It is a crying shame the company was bought by someone who had no idea how to run a business, and it went down the plug hole.

Thanks for the GRM info. Yes, it's a '74 2500M. Owned for a very long time by a TVR enthusiast in Indy/Carmel. Disassembled and painted, also a long time ago, and then it sat until now. Some assembly required. Not sure yet how far I'll go with this one, but leaning toward stock, with various known improvements - once I learn more about what those are :)

2500M?  Are you going to leave it stock or will it get upgraded?

There's a few TVR build threads on GRM, one with a modern driveline and the others with stock set ups.

I'm afraid I seem to be going the wrong direction on the automotive evolutionary scale, but it was too good a deal to pass up. Came complete with the proverbial "Engine in a Box"

What have I done?

No....  :FUNNY:
Sorry - the rear coil overs are not as yet attached to the rear uprights and the drive shafts are temporarily suspended from large cable ties.
I have some fine tuning to do in this area and wanted to keep everything as accessible as possible.
Hope this answers your query and that I have not miss understood.
The lower radius arms are of course "home modified" - they are adjustable in length to aid camber adjustment - when I get to that stage .....  :)) :))
