Heater fan replacement?
« on: Sunday,March 31, 2024, 04:52:33 AM »
Just thinking ahead as my Smith’s blower motor doesn’t turn after decades of inactivity …. I heard they aren’t very impressive anyway at moving air, has anyone upgraded to something modern (still using the original fan housing)?

A few months ago someone was selling a fan that looked like the Europa one, but blew more air. Maybe a Triumph unit? So even if you didn’t use your original housing, it might look the same.

The Smiths fan motor seems to be fitted to many Land Rovers, possibly MGBs too.

Hi: I was the one who was selling (sold) a spare blower unit of similar, but unknown lineage. As you can see in the video, it was quite a bit more powerful. Now that my car is actually on the road and things are warming up, I realize I should have kept it :)

Here's the initial posting with the Smiths part number: https://www.lotuseuropa.org/LotusForum/index.php?topic=6247.0

And this is a video I made to show the buyer:  https://www.youtube.com/shorts/8HC2xNptE34

Hope this helps.
