Working on others Europa.
« on: Monday,September 06, 2021, 10:07:19 AM »
Spent three days working on the ex-Palm Springs Europa.
The work would have been simpler with a more direct and complete back-story.

Sad to say that my previously stated fears of weather damage had already happened.
Paint has not peeled but has more crazing than it should, interior is poor, fancy dash veneer has cracked and curled, tires rotted.

Major issue with the car was that virtually none of the grounds were attached.
Not certain if this was the case when it was last driven or not.

Did get it to run.
Weber conversion is not fully sorted as the choke cannot be used.
Some exhaust system correction to be done.
Must have been very nice about three years ago.

Interesting learning curve, I have now removed and refit a Europa dash.
Now determined to modify my own loom and grounding, possibly the mounting as well.
Also got to see an original center console, incredible that anything so very flimsy was used for so many years. Heat warps them.
I will get the fiberglass replacement for my own car.

Car will be back on the market fairly soon as the current owner is not going to do a full restoration.
Seems to be a very good Europa to take more time with and should be fairly easy to make a decent Driver over the winter.
