1972 TC for sale on BaT
« on: Wednesday,June 08, 2022, 06:53:17 PM »
A very nice modified ‘72 TC is on bid at bringatrailer.com. Some of its modifications are a Toyota 4AGE, NG3 tranny, 4 wheel discs, a twin link rear suspension, and A/C.

It’s very nicely done. Take a look: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1972-lotus-europa-5/

edit: it was not a Richard Mann style twin link rear.

Some good news about this auction is that the bid is up to $20,000 and there are three days left.

I noticed that too. That seemed suboptimal at best. Nobody seemed to be worried enough about that to post about it - including me! There was a bit of chatter about the twin link setup.

I expected the car to run much smoother in the driving video. It's certainly not a noise I'd want to hear instead of a radio! I don't know where the roughness is coming from (the frame/body, motor, camera). Of course, the camera's microphone could actually be causing that unpleasant sound.

The engine breathes through the big hole in the luggage box that was cut for the air cleaner.  Just don't pack too much luggage in or the engine will stall.

The bit I can't figure out is how the passengers breathe when the windows are closed.  I think it might get a little stuffy in there...

The trunk tray isn't actually sealed (except for the front edge to keep nasty engine smells and effluent out of your luggage but it wouldn't make a very good place for an air intake even without luggage IMHO. They probably should have fabricated a relief in the trunk tray for the air intake .

The car sold for $26,000. Not too bad given it was fairly heavily modified (4AGE, A/C, twin link, etc.). It was nicely done and they are all worthwhile mods. The new owner will probably join the forum!

That Lotus Carlton/Omega though!! I'd sell my collection for that one... well maybe not all of them.
