That car still needs a lot of work to put it in to good condition.
Seats need re-trimming, respray, windscreen needs taking out and re-sealing with new surround, and the whole underneath is tired.
Unusual to see a cover on the dashboard glove box.

what's with the thermostat housing not directed rearward?

what's with the thermostat housing not directed rearward?
Or even forward, as standard?
The write-up is wrong. The Big Valve engine was introduced on TC Federal cars long before the Special came along.
A suitable case for a restoration project I'd have thought.

I believe that was the thermostat housing used on cars with the coolaire air conditioning system. From the interior it looks like the system has been removed, but not enough pictures to see if any other parts might be still in place.
Pictures of the coolaire system can be found here:

The above photos of the coolaire system are of my Europa Chassis # 3307r once owned by Walter Lewis.
Upon my reconditioning, I removed the entire A/C system, and sold it to a gentleman in Indiana.
As you can see in the photos, the vehicle was originally lagoon blue, then painted a sable brown.
It is now L15 black, photos of the engine bay during a/c removal follow.
