Anyone Instagram?
« on: Monday,March 12, 2018, 05:27:26 AM »
Being semi-retired, I have a lot of time to educate myself to some new apps.
Instagram being one who I found have a large following of Lotus cars of all makes, the Europa being represented with some interesting builds.
I’m on my wives Facebook on it as Christine Kaczmarek, (don’t want my own).

I'm on there as Rosco5000.  A fair bit of Europa posts come up surprisingly enough.  A couple of generally good Lotus accounts to follow.   thegaragista, Ken was from Cosworth North America, he has a tidy little Elan and posts some cool old Lotus photos.  Classic cars of Tokyo has a fair number of Europas and Loti come up as the Japanese have quite the obsession with the Europa.

Regarding the Japanese fascination for Europa’s, there is a very interesting reason. I was told this story by a guy who has exported more that 50 Europa’s to Japan from the US.

Comic books have been the craze in Japan for many generations. Everyone reads them. Old, young, everyone. One of the most popular of all the comic books has the hero driving a Europa. Every boy in the country has grown up reading this comic book and when the are old enough to drive and then buy a car of their dreams.........guess what they want.

I personally love the Happy Body Shop cars from Japan...  They are my type of tastefully modded Europa in my eyes.  Lots of them show up on Instagram.

Interesting... Here is a Google translation of "Body Shop Happy's" About page:

"The original frame of LOTUS EUROPA has no sense of rigidity, the structure around the genuine rear suspension is defective, the genuine hub is a crying place, etc. In the past such an article caught up pages of various specialty magazines.
Looking at these articles, I gave up buying EUROPA, and owner who sold EUROPA finally bought finally seems to be pretty.
Current owner, owner of future, please feel at ease.

EUROPA S2 on the right uses all genuine parts such as chassis, leg around, G / BOX and so on. However, in order to withstand LOTUS TC 200 BHP, the material of the driving transmission system has been changed to a somewhat high quality base metal. I left the AVON slick with the spring specification and the shock in the load specification, and I got the time of 1 minute 2 seconds 75 on the '96 / 3/23 Tsukuba circuit.
As this proves, I was convinced that the basic design of EUROPA would be sufficient for today's car society.

In HAPPY, space frame, rear W wishbone kit, special parts, etc. are available at all times. If you feel something dissatisfied with your LOTUS, if it is about LOTUS (all models), please leave it to HAPPY.
Anything will be available for consultation. We are looking forward to hearing from you."

Hey Tom ,
I really wonder if the translation is accurate.
It is fun conversing to my polish heritage friends. I only studied it to first grade in my Catholic grade school. Along with speaking Latin as an alter boy.

I dunno Dave, "the genuine hub is a crying place" sounds like an accurate translation to me. ;)

I've tried a few different translation programs in my travels, and Google's is the best, but obviously far from perfect.
