Title: British Car Show San Diego
Post by: cal44 on Friday,October 05, 2012, 03:26:58 PM
This Sunday.....British Car Show at Liberty Station in Point Loma, San Diego.  Once again, I will be the one in extra big  cowboy hat.  I go early and leave early.  I'll take snaps for the rest of you.

Sounds good. Looking forward to your pics, but how do you get the extra big cowboy hat into the Europa?

Here are few shots.  The '64 Spitfire was the finest I have seen.  I am very fond of old MG's so plenty of eye candy.
Another one of my favorites, 1953 Sunbeam Alpine.  The French somehow worked their way into the works..................
There were Tigers, Healeys, and Triumphs but I see a lot of those so kind of burned out on them.
With the exception of a small mouth long door Triumph.........not burned out on them.

The Austin Seven Saloon really takes me back. I learned to drive in an Austin Seven, owned several, and they were very much part of my life. My father was an Austin Seven specialist for most of his life.

Roger,

you would have got a kick with the display the fellow had.  Period music with a very nice explanation of Austin 7's.
I must admit............it was one of my favorites at the show.  That and the '32 MG.

I quite like the last photo, I guess he was just "dog tired" after walking round all those cars...... :)

The Spitfire looks excellent, with the forward tilting bonnet showing everything forward of the bulkhead those guys have loads of work to do on a rebuild and the devil's own job to keep looking pristine. 10/10 and a gold star to that man !

I like the Mini Countryman as well, they are getting quite a following over here now with some very optimistic prices going around.

Nice pics. I really like the dark blue Elan... very tidy. What is the light blue car in the third from last photo? :coolpic:

I think it's a Sunbeam Alpine, approximately 1954.

Wow! The first of my several Triumph Spitfires!  Loved them.  I even added ski racks to the boot of mine when i was in college.  That photo of the open bonnet took me back to that time (drive for 2 hours, work on it for 4) :)

Indeed Roger is correct.  A Sunbeam Alpine.  This one was as good as it gets.
Stirling Moss used to pilot a works Alpine  in his early days of racing and did well.

Very cool. I don't know much about this era of Alpines, but I like it.
