352 Gearbox

WTB...  Would any one in the UK have a 352 box for sale ,my 4th gear whines a bit. I got a 5 speed box out of a Fuego with the car when i bought it and i was going to fit that but i was told it was a very big job to change it so i am sticking with the 352. I will be selling the Fuego box or swap for a 352 box.  Thanks  Stuart .   Lancashire.

On the road, shift between 3rd and 4th while maintaining the same speed.  It will be noisier in 3rd as the engine is turning faster but listen carefully if the whine is present in both.  My guess is that it is.  The most common source of whines is the ring and pinion.  People regularly make a hash of changing the output seals and the ring and pinion go out of proper alignment resulting in a whine.

The 352 uses the same gears as the 336 but a different ring and pinion set.  So you can source gears from any 336 box.

Hi JBCOLLIER  Thanks for the information, it seems quiet in  1st  2nd and 3rd but only  whines in 4th.  It's good to know that the internals are the same as the 336 box. The car had not run for 15 yrs when i got it so i rebuilt the engine and had the box rebuilt by a specialist. he has driven it and says it needs new 4th gears. Thanks  Stuart..
