EUG807G my 1970's Europa twin cam
« on: Monday,March 17, 2014, 02:25:21 PM »
Hi everybody
In the 1970's I owned a twin cam which I had as my everyday car for 7 years.
I know it took all my money to keep it on the road but I took it round the clock, it had 2000 (actual 102,000) miles on the clock when I sold it.
I did a search on askmid and found it is insured.
Just curious to see how it is.
When I sold it I had converted to big valve but still 4 speed, a friend of mine had a JPS and I could beat him off the line.
The car was red and reg no. EUG807K

 :Welcome:
If you know the VIN you can look it up in the registry and see if it's still on the road. Here is the link.

Hi Ian,

If it's still insured in the UK you might be better off trying one of the UK Lotus clubs, either Club Lotus or the Lotus Drivers Club. We do have some UK owners on this forum but it's a pretty diverse crowd from around the globe, so there's likely to be more chance with a UK club.

A quick look at the DVLA seems to indicate that it's still in the UK but off the road;

    Registration number EUG 807K
    Vehicle make LOTUS
Date of first registration 22 November 1971
    Year of manufacture 1971
    Cylinder capacity (cc) 1599cc
    COâ‚‚Emissions Not available
    Fuel type PETROL
    Export marker N
    Vehicle status SORN in place
    Vehicle colour RED
    Vehicle type approval Not available

Brian

edit to add - if anyone else wants to find if their old cars are still on the UK roads, there is a DVLA enquiry system here :

Welcome to the forum, Ian. You get a big 'thumbs up' from me for taking it around the clock. That's dedication, and I aspire to that type of seat time. I don't think there are very many Europas out there that have used the whole clock. Good luck with your search for your old Lotus. Cheers.
The Twin Cam plays the symphony whilst my right foot conducts the orchestra. At 3800 rpm the Mad Pipe Organ joins in.
