Is it correct that the body would have been quite extensively cut up in order to remove the chassis.

That S1 looks like a proper project.
The body shows no traces of removing the chassis.It might have been cut into pieces while still being in the car.

I thought the same, how was the chassis removed?
(or was it so badly corroded that it was simply picked out?)

The new chassis looks fine though.
Now sold....
