My First In-Car Video!
« on: Sunday,March 06, 2022, 03:47:50 PM »
After mounting an iPhone to the dashboard mainly for the GPS apps, I took the car around the neighborhood in 3rd gear. The phone has a camera so I made use of it.

Interesting. So, an iPhone is your on-board computer?

Not really an on board computer…. No single DIN GPS units were available when I needed to fill the hole in my 1970 S2’s dash.  I used an early jailbroken iPod for years but decided to dump the bluetooth GPS it required and update it with an iOS15 phone.  I had an iPhone SE that wasn’t being used so I loaded it with maps, speedometer, clock, g-force sensors and music apps.  The housing is 3D printed and it fits and works well.

Thanks for the ride, lefty :beerchug:

I had more of a smile when I drove literarymadmess's europa.  I intend to do something similar without mounting. The IPhone changes so rapidly that I'll just use a underdash  mounting bracket. Radio is nothing but Commercials.

Hahaha… a slow trip through the neighborhood in 3rd gear isn’t exactly smile worthy.
