Title: 19?? R18 Renault a good parts donor?

May have found an R18 cheap.
Are the engine and trans good for Europa spares?
Just the engine?
Nothing?

So far the web is not supplying useful information.
I would love to have a spare engine with cross-flow head.

EDIT: Web says it cannot be a 1997, seller en espanol so may be hard to communicate with.

EDIT-2: Same guy appears to also have an R19, which the web says is iron block.
But what about the R19 head?

Depends on what engine they come with.  My memory is suspect but I thought Federal R18s got the 2.2L engine.

The best donor by far is a very early R17G.  It has the high compression engine and a proper 365 (0.93 5th though)!  As time went by, compression dropped and the 395 was slotted in (large gap between 3rd and 4th).  After that comes the Fuego but it has a low compression ratio and an NG3 (tractor pull 1st).

Rockauto have a good database.  If you check their online catalog it says the R18 appeared in the USA in 1981 with a 1.6 liter engine.  In 1984 it got a 2.2 liter engine.  You could potentially figure out the engine model from the parts lists, if you were determined enough.
