Replacement Metal Oil Drain Tube Question
« on: Thursday,May 11, 2023, 05:30:12 AM »
So I have a question for the collective.

I have a 72 TC which is in a body-off restoration, albeit a very slow one.

I am purchasing a replacement Aluminum Oil Drain Tube in lieu of the stock rubber one.
My question is I have a 701M block (engine is still in car) and I am told the length required for the 701M may be different, compared to a 711M.  The unit I am purchasing is designed for a 711M, so the question is will it work on my 701M block or should I measure my block and wait for a redesigned unit?

Any help would be appreciated.

I believe the 711M is the tall block. Can you modify the drain tube to fit?

Elan Tric Bits also has an aluminum drain tube.

Grumblebuns,
I found the info about the Aluminum replacement tube on the Elan board.
The supplier/fabricator brought up the 711 M when asking about my block to verify fitment.  He also asked for dimensions for a check.

As for modifying and I assume his AL tube, he is looking into it.  I am a ways off from the need but I am collecting for the eventual teardown/rebuild.

I am looking for additional info as he does his checking.

I will be taking some measurements of the block and pass them to him.

Thanks,
Dan

Kendo,

Not Elantrikbits.  A member on LotusElan.net is fabricating these again.  He made some previously.
I saw a posting on a thread and reached out.

I am going to get some dimensions of my block tomorrow or over the weekend.
