Center console arm rest TCS
« on: Friday,May 07, 2021, 06:14:01 PM »
How does the upholstered center console arm rest attach to the plastic lower section? Appears there are some type of push clips that insert into the cable bracket plate and a fixing plate?  Any help or pictures appreciated.

You’re correct, there were some sort of plastic clips. Beyond that, I can’t tell you much about them except that the only reason I know that much about them is because they were usually broken by people who thought that pad was covering a compartment of some kind and pulled on it to open it. The best I can tell is the clips were made to work once.

If you’re looking for something to take their place, I’ve used Velcro and that seems to work very well.

You can buy appropriate sized replacement plastic clips.  I will post a photo tomorrow.  That is what I did and they work more than once (they snap in) so you can access the tunnel.

I have used Velcro too, fixed to the surfaces using contact adhesive.

As promised.  I could not find my extra clips but I think I bought them in an auto parts store.

+ 1 for Velcro.

I dont know if anyone drives a Europa totally relaxed. On frequent journeys I would remove the arm rest while driving to listen to noises coming from the rear - or feel temperature of the radiator or heater pipes. The original clips would have made that quite difficult and were too stiff for frequent removal. In fact they had already broken when I got the car. I did something similar to Velcro.
