Title: Motor Mounts
Post by: Lotusjps on Monday,April 14, 2014, 09:20:57 AM
I'm curious what people are using for motor mounts?  My car seems to be going through them like tic tacs.  I've been using the "heavy duty" ones from JAE, though they are only lasting a few events.  I realize they were probably never designed to handle the torque the engine is putting out, but what alternatives are there?

I am fabricating my own, based on the design in the photographs below. I'm using Superflex poly bushes (I think Shore A 75, but I'm not sure, I can look it up if needed).

Tony Thompson makes a similar mount for the 26R guys to use (I've added these pictures as well). The standard mounts are notoriously bad.

Kelsport make a different version:

Kind regards,

Thank you Serge!  That's exactly what I'm needing!  Wouldn't by chance consider selling a set would you?

I haven't built my set yet, but I should be able to make an extra set. I would need to buy some extra bushes and housings from superflex if I want to build another set.

I've already given the link for the Kelsport ones, and I've also found the link for Tony Thompson's mounts. They are £65 and for the Elan, but they are the same mounts for the Europa.

Very similar to what I ended up fabricating as well.  While there is indeed less rubber in these mounts, they still provide dampening and appear to have tightened up the rear suspension.  So far so good.

You can see what I did for the rear mount in this link.  Similar design.

Or on the third page of this thread.

Sorry for the semi-cross post, but I since there was a dedicated motor mount thread, I thought it best to share here as well.
