Title: A couple of questions for all of us…
Post by: BDA on Tuesday,February 08, 2022, 04:50:11 PM
Who has more than one Europa (list please)?

Who has more than one Lotus (list please)?

I’ll start… I don’t!   :(  I would love to have an Elan or a Seven or maybe even an Esprit but I’ll have to be satisfied with my TCS.

Waiting for Alex......

in the meantime, I'll start the listings;

Elan S3 SE dhc bought around '77.
Europa TC, bought around '87
Elise S1, bought new in '99.

Unfortunately the "buy a new Lotus every 10yrs" seems to have stalled now, it must be old age catching up with me.....   :(

In addition to Europa, does Locost 7 count? It does have some (but not plentiful) actual Lotus parts.

First of all, I don't believe I'm a hoarder of Europas. I 've sold off the two that I put back into running condition and the ones I still have are not running.

Picture 1 is my first ever Lotus. Purchased during my stint with the US Navy. In 1976, I was stationed at Sub Base Pearl Harbor Hawaii and I came across this turquoise beauty in the local want ads by an Army Captain. Purchase price was around $3500, a lot for a lowly E4 making around $200 per paycheck. Still have it after 40 plus years. Currently undergoing an engine rebuild.

Pictures 2-4 are in no particular order of ownership.

Picture 2 is my 72 Elan Plus 2 S130.Purchased locally when it developed a water pump leak and the owner didn't want to deal with the expense of replacing the WP. Unfortunately, I let sit too long outside before building my detached garage and will need to be looked at again. I should be shot for allowing this to have happened.

Picture 3 is 72 TC, my Cosworth Europa. Picked up from a long time Europa fanatic who ran into financial difficulties and had to unload all of his Europa projects. Project is in temporary hiatus.

Picture 4 is my 05 Elise. Purchased from the same owner as the Cosworth Europa. Not wanting to kick a man while he is down and a friend, paid fair market value at that time.

Picture 5 is my 69 S2. This car has an unusual history. According to the second owner, the original owner purchased the S2 from the Lotus factory while he was stationed in the US military in England. He was told by the Lotus factory that the S2 was a former Paris car show exhibit. This is all anecdotal but there may be some element of truth by the car having the VIN of 2501*, not R as non federal.

Pictures 6 & 7 are both 72 TCs purchased in 2020. The lowered and flared black TC was owned by a good friend of mine who passed away a couple of years ago. I decided to help the family by purchasing the car. The black TC is a garage queen, left in a corner and forgotten until the owner decided he needed the space and put it up for sale. It has some dubious body mods but is not too bad other wise.

My priorities for this year are getting the engine rebuilt on the turquoise TCS and the Plus 2 back together.

What gives??  :WTF:  are we talking about Lotus ownership or all the cars we've owned? I see posts of each. If we're talking about other cars, I could list a hell of alot of interesting cars and motorcycles that aren't Lotuses..

It started as Europa's you currently own and other lotus you currently own.

I just have a 73 built/74 registered Special, my first Lotus I got in July 2019.

The wheels are Cromodoras, 13x6. They were installed by the previous owner so don't know of their current availability.

Beautiful wheels and they look great on Europa! Are they 13" or 14"?

Do you know if these are still available from Cromodora?

At the same time, or over the course of this affliction with plastic cars from Hethel?

In my sig...plus a Turboesprit S/N 60857, and a 74 Elite (don't remember the number)

First is 444R, at Antioch Park in Overland Park KS 1984
Second is my Elite outside Pat Dennis (owner of Mk6 POP444) in 1984
Third is my '86 Turbo HCi in 1998
Fourth is my latest, 3291R arriving home in Fall River MA
Fifth is 2678 (ex-Steve Veris' garage queen/development buck) arriving in my hangar before being dragged to my PA home to be broken down.
Sixth is 693R, my most extensive restoration to date...stupidly sold in '19 and bought an MGB as a poor replacement to have a brit sports car in my shed...living, last I knew, in Indiana...condition unknown, but hope she's being well taken care of...

That enough to start?  There is an early Elite in a barn that's mine, too, but that's strictly for my eyes only as a retirement project, and I'll disclose the information when I'm ready...)

Hello,
I get two Lotus wrecks I restore.
A Europa, I bought 1982, which will get a TOYOTA 4AGE engine with a Spyder chassis.
A Seven S1 from 1959 original had a Ford sv engine, changed to a 2000ccm BMW engine in the late 1960th and sold 1992 to me in parts, without powertrain, rear axis ... . Some previous owner drove the car in some races in Germany. And with the BMW engine it was 1971 well powered.
