My car has static belts, but they are a bit grubby and I'd like to fit retractable belts instead, as it would have had originally.
Any idea where I can get some? Generic 3-point belts assume a floor-mounted reel with an over-the-shoulder belt run. I have wondered about trying to remove the intermediate guide and then mounting the reel as in the original installation, but have no idea whether that would work, or what I might have to do to make it work.
So what does work, please?

My original seat belts were trashed. I installed Securon 514/15. They installed fine. My only complaint is the release button is on the end of the buckle instead of the side. It makes it a little difficult to release. I tried the longer set (254)with the 32 cm web latch. It worked, but it was too long and did not look great. The attached photos show the installation. It attached in the same location as the original.
Rimmer caries them. Also, you can try Minisport.

Thanks, I will try them Securon's prices are silly.

Thanks again, ordered from Rimmer.

Be careful, the Europa inertia seat belts are mounted at an angle, so normal inertia will not work in that position.

The angle of locking on the Securon units is adjustable, so that is not a problem. They are infinitely adjustable.

Have you fitted both bolts to the reels? I've been told these Securon units are too big to fit behind the seats because of the setting unit, did the other side fit okay?

Photos of the Securon belts are attached. I used the original seat belt attachment location. The plastic Lotus seat belt reel cover does not fit however.

Just remember to replace the seat beat anchor in the sill. On a relatively rust free car I could remove the old mounts with a vacuum cleaner. Photo shows what was left of the old bracket - on top of the new stainless steel.
Oh and don't forget to order the red belts :-)

Hi Lotsof,
your replacement seat belt anchor points look somewhat more substantial than the original examples!

My car has VW belts installed. They look almost identical to those. I noticed that the VW belts were very sensitive to the mounting angle affecting the motion lock. If at a 45, the locks didn't work but if straightened up a bit they work fine. Only one bolt in the original location.

BTW, I installed black Securon belts.

How do you like them Roger?

Not easy to set them up to get the internal pendulum right, but fine in use. When I say not easy, I mean lots of fiddly adjustment and retry, almost as if there wasn't much tolerance.
