Stout Scarab

Most of y'all are probably aware of this vehicle, from the 30's-40's. I wasn't, but read a bit about it, was very innovative, it appears. Two things caught my eye, that Chapman used the suspension for his inspiration on Lotus suspension, and that W. Stout was quoted, "smiplicate, and add lightness". Still,  a great design. Shame it didn't get into production.

I believe I saw one of those in an exhibit of Art Deco cars in the NC Museum of Art. I did not know of the Chapman or the Buckminster Fuller connection. Then it made more sense. Bucky Fuller was a great outside-the-box thinker. I guess some things are "meant" to provide inspiration for others who produce actual products from that inspiration.

I was quite aware of the Stout Scarab, though enjoyed  brushing up by reading the Wikipedia link, thanks. However, Bucky Fuller and his Dymaxion were new to me, so that was an interesting read as well.

That Chapman drew inspiration from the Scarab is intriguing.
