FS: Twin Cam Big Valve engine and 365 5 spd transmission Sold
« on: Monday,November 02, 2015, 07:32:14 AM »
I originally purchased this Twin Cam Big Valve and 5 spd to put in my S2 0576R but ended up leaving the 16TL in it and selling the car.  This engine has sat in a large sealed plastic box in my garage for almost 10 years.  All the machine shop and critical assembly has been done so its essentially its a rebuilt engine requiring final assembly. I picked up some additional parts like distributor over the years, these will all go with the motor.  The block is the more desirable 701M6015
The gearbox looks clean as the flywheel, pressure plate and clutch look very usable.  A lot of the parts are still coated in grease and wrapped in plastic (cams etc).  Valve train still has the assembly grease on it.

Sold

Regards,

Mike

These look like very nice pieces! I'm not interested in them, but it might be useful to clarify which 5-sp tranny it is. It looks like a 365. Is that correct?

I was under the impression that the 365 was the only 5 speed Lotus supplied.

You're obviously correct, Joe, but since he said he bought it for his car, it could have come from anywhere so it might be an NG3 for example.

Good point, I did not see the other 2 transmissions in the back ground of the picture.

Yes, it is the 365 transmission, the entire drivetrain came from the same 73 or 74 special. I actually did put 365 5 spd transmission in the subject heading but I guess it didn't catch anybodies eye.
I have attached a picture of the only numbers I could find on the transmission.

The other 2 transmissions are R154's from some of my Supra turbos over the years.  In all there are 6 engines and 5 transmissions in my garage taking up one of my parking spots meanwhile my 71 911 is sitting out in the weather.  Figured it was time to clear out some of the "stuff".  At least the girlfriend will be happy.

Regards, Mike

Mike you did indeed put that in the subject. Sometimes I can't see the tree for the forest.
