Update...

What better way to travel to Misano Adriatico in 3522R and catch the Moto GP race today. A pit stop and photo op in Tavullia was in order....Thanks Vic!

A Sunday afternoon call from Vic...
 
He spent the better part of the past few days, car spotting during the 38Th edition re- enactment of the famed "Mille Miglia" race. Hundreds of classic cars and racers were in attendance during the four day event.

Always ready to lend a helping hand...he was able to assist a stranded Porsche 356 competitor who's ignition failed and supplied his spare (Lucas) condenser to get him going again!

Can't wait for this unfortunate year to finally be over. Seems like the recent up tick with Covid in Europe and here has everyone frustrated. Vic tells me that non mask enforcement in Italy will cost you 1000 Euros!

The only solace to take away is that although cases have increased, survival rates remain high across the age spectrum.

So, missing family and friends during these trying times have me thinking back to better days.

Like, when we went to the beach in Torette early one morning to beat the afternoon heat...
and wake up the population with that glorious twin cam alarm clock!

A quick stop for cappuccino, where a local asked...where did you get that shirt?

November update:

Vic has been keeping busy, our conversation yesterday focused on future upgrades to 3522R.

First, was the purchase of new rubber...a set of Federal 595's (185/60/13) & (205/60/13)
have been mounted and tested.

A spare set of wheels is next...he contacted Gotti (France) which can make a set to his specs. He is leaning towards the 5T version.

 A rear disc conversion is planned over the winter using Fiat Panda calipers...fabrication of the mounting hardware is in the works. I will send a picture of the items as soon as possible

I remember Gotti wheels way back when I was racing. I thought they were some of the prettiest around. I’m glad they’re still around. Good choice!

Lou - I'll be interested in the details of the rear disc conversion.  If I'm reading this right Vic is going to have rear disc brakes with handbrake and all fitting inside 13 inch wheels.

Good progress. I really like those Gotti wheels. The 5T is nice, digging the 73A as well.

Like Gideon, I too am interested in details of the rear disc conversion.
The Twin Cam plays the symphony whilst my right foot conducts the orchestra. At 3800 rpm the Mad Pipe Organ joins in.

Fiat Panda caliper update:

 Test fit & measurements to inner wheel, both calipers bodies at leading edge shaved.
 Mock up of template for mounting bracket fabricated, machine shop to produce.

What's the piston diameter of the Panda callipers?
Also, what disk are you using?

How will the handbrake cables be routed so they pull on those levers in the right direction?

Piston diameter is 34mm.  The calipers are available from any number of car parts suppliers in Europe, e.g.

Does anybody know how that will affect brake balance, assuming stock front brakes?

I believe the rear disc kit that Richard Winter sells uses a rear brake caliper from the Ford Sierra.  From what I can find online the piston diameter of that caliper is 43mm, and the weight is 2.3kg.  That compares with 34mm and 1.2kg for the Fiat Panda rear caliper.
