What is this?
« on: Wednesday,April 22, 2020, 01:51:16 AM »
Dear All, are any of you able to explain what the silver rod is behind the battery?  It is running from upper left to lower right, onto what looks like a rose joint on the black bar above the transaxle.  I have seen the equivalent of the black bar and rose joint mount on a partially stripped S2, which I have not been able to view due to the Corona lock down.  Thank you, Karl

Looks to me like a bonnet (hoodJ stay? The end by the exhaust I would expect, should be supported higher up.

It seems very substantial for a engine lid stay, when many owners seem to make do with broom handles!  An exhaust mount, perhaps?  And any guesses on the two green pipes?

The silver rod behind the battery seems to be a support stay for the exhaust. But it's odd because I'd expect to see another rod running from the same point on the exhaust with the other end located lower down on the transaxle to form a triangle. (if that makes sense)
Perhaps the second rod is hidden by the exhaust?

There's also a silver rod going from the left hand side drain channel perhaps attached to the exhaust, but that might be a bonnet prop.

The green pipes?
I'll guess and say they are copper replacements for the heater pipes that have attained the patina of their characteristic blue/green colour.

I don't know but I see fender flares and CV boots. Any other pics of the car?

St Ives.  PE27.  What about you, Brian, and which type of Europa do you have?  I have my eye on one but have been unable to see it due to the lock down
